2 youngsters drown in swimming pool of school at Derlakatte

Mangalore, May 02, 2014: In a tragic incident, two youngsters were reported drowned in a swimming pool of the Kanachur educational institute at Derlakatte on May 1, Thursday.
It is learnt, the two namely Neeraj (16), son of Jairam of Vamanjoor and Suraj(23), son of Bhasker had been to the institution to hand over some stationery and books to the institution when they reportedly decided to enter the waters only to get drowned.
However, school authorities maintained that the swimming pool was under maintenance and was slippery. It is said a person from Tokkottu had tried to rescue the duo but failed as the water had chemicals in it for cleaning purpose.
Local police have registered a case.
