2 young bike riders fatally knocked down by truck near Kootelu Bridge

Puttur, May 13, 2014 : Two young bike riders lost their lives when their bike was hit by a truck from the rear  near Kootelu Bridge on May 12, Monday. The truck however fled the scene of the accident.

The deceased are Altaf (21) and Suhail (22). They hailed from Enjiradka in Bajattur village. The mishap occurred when the two were heading towards Uppinangady. The truck, it is learnt was proceeding to Mangalore from Bangalore.

Both the deceased are said to be close  friends.  Altaf  was working as a salesman in Bangalore.

A large crowd gathered at the scene of the accident and expressed its ire over the truck driver who fled the place. The Uppinangady police who rushed to the spot assured to locate the truck after which the locals withdrew their flash protest.

Traffic was also disrupted on the route for some time following the accident.
