2 cousins found dead at Tannirbavi beach

Mangalore, June 13, 2014:  In what is believed to be a case of suicide following dejection and despair, a young pair, both minors were found dead at Tannirbavi beach on June12, Thursday evening. The bodies were found together with a shawl and belt tied around. It has been learnt that they were cousins.

The deceased are Pratap and Manjula, both 15 years of age and residents of Moodushedde. Sources say the two were in love and  unable to face their families which came to know of their affair chose the extreme step. It is suspected that they jumped into the river at Kulur on June 11, Wednesday.

If the girl was an SSLC student, the boy worked in a garage. Their families had lodged a complaint to the Kavoor police after a search for the two went futile.

It is learnt, the two families which were initially unaware of their relationship, came to know about it much later. However, the young pair, unable to face them  had ended their lives.

Police found some chits and mobile phones in the trouser pockets of Pratap. However, not much information could be obtained as the papers were wet and the phones switched off.
