"Journey" Photography exhibition by Vivek Gowda debuts at Sowgandhika Nursery near Puttur

Mangaluru, April 10, 2024: In a unique initiative, acclaimed Mangalore-based photographer Vivek Gowda is showcasing his creations amidst the natural splendor of Sowgandhika Nursery in Parpunja near Puttur, from the 9th to the 28th of April, 2024.

 

The inauguration of this photography exhibition, titled "Journey," coincided with the celebration of Ugadi, taking place in the evening on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024.

The event commenced with an environmental anthem performed by Sunil Attavar. Renowned artist and environmental activist, Dinesh Holla, inaugurated the photo exhibition by lighting a lamp, with the esteemed presence of social activist Shashidhara Shetty and snake rescuer Kiran. Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Holla emphasized the significance of humans coexisting harmoniously with the environment and noted the deep reverence for life reflected in Vivek Gowda’s photographs.

 

 

Shashidhara Shetty, expressed hopes for more such commendable initiatives and eco-friendly endeavors at Sowgandhika Nursery. Reptile expert Kiran enlightened the audience about the local snake species. Chandra Sowgandhika gave a vote of thanks, while Harish Rajkumar anchored the programme.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The photography exhibition at Sowgandhika Gallery will continue until April 28th. The general public is welcome to visit the exhibition and enjoy the captivating exhibits on all weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Vivek Gowda, a cinematographer, photographer, and entrepreneur, was a winner of the "FIP Photographer of the Year 2020" award by the Federation of Indian Photography for his photo story of Intha fishermen. He also won the Askary Award 2022 presented by the Youth Photographic Society (YPS), Bangalore.
