"Irregularities" in food kit distribution: Councillor files Lokayukta complaint against Karkala MLA

Karkala, October 16, 2020: Karkala TMC Councillor Shubada Rao has lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta against local BJP MLA Sunil Kumar alleging corruption in the process of distribution of 5,000 food kits meant for construction workers. The complainant has alleged that a fake list of beneficiaries was created and sent to the government for the food kits worth Rs 44,95,000.

Apart from the MLA, District Labour Officer and Taluk Labour Officer have been named in the complaint filed at the Lokayukta Office, Rao has informed.

The complaint said that the list of beneficiaries of food kits from the grants provided by Labour Department, had names of deceased  people  and those who have not secured the food kits. False documents were created to loot government funds, he has alleged.

"Submitting a list of beneficiaries to the government despite the Labour Deparmtent not organising any food kit distribution programme and the transfer of a huge amount to the MLA’s account from the account of the agency responsible for food distribution, substantiates the corruption in the process," the complainant has alleged.
