According to reports, ex-IFS officer Vijay Bahadur, who was an observer for recruitment tests for Vyapam was travelling from Puri to Bhopal by Puri-Jodhpur Express on Thursday.
He reportedly fell down from the train soon after it departed from Belpahar station’s platform no.2.

When Bahadur’s wife alerted the TT that her husband was not onboard the train, the rail officials were alerted. Later, they found him next to the train track at Belpahar. Bahadur was immediately rushed to the Jehangir Gandhi Hospital in Belpahar but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

The body was sent for post mortem and later handed over to the family. A case of unnatural death has been registered with the Belpahar GRP.

Last week, the Supreme Court had pointed that no person linked to Vyapam scam has died since the case was handed to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) three months back.

"I was wondering about it... how come deaths have stopped after we passed the order and the CBI took over these cases? I remember saying it on the first day of the hearing that we will not let the number of deaths go up," a bench led by Chief Justice of India H L Dattu observed.

A CBI officer who was sent for Vyapam scam investigations to Madhya Pradesh was found unconscious in a train last month. Indrashekar Jha, posted in Delhi, was heading towards Gwalior to join the CBI team investigating Vyapam scam when he suffered a brain hemorrhage.

In September, the Supreme Court had directed the CBI to take over all the 72 Vyapam scam cases which are pending trial at various courts in Madhya Pradesh.

Over 40 people linked to the scam have died under mysterious circumstances since 2013, the year when the scandal was first reported in the media.
