Veteran actor Dilip Kumar honoured with Padma Vibhushan at 93

New Delhi, December 13, 2015: Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been honoured with Padma Vibhushan today (December 13).  Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis visited Dilip Kumar’s home to personally confer him with the Padma Vibhushan award.

The Padma Vibhushan award recipients are announced every year on Republic Day and this was also announced in Janauary 2015. The award is given to those peopple who have done "exceptional and distinguished service".

Dilip Kumar has contributed a lot for Hindi film industry. The actor has done more than 60 films. He is also known as ’The Tragedy King’. The Government of India has also honoured him with the Padma Bhushan award in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994.

Earlier the actor’s wife Saira Banu had said, "We got a call from Raj Bhavan and were informed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will honour Dilip Sahab at home two days after his birthday. This makes it special." And event at the event, Saira Banu

Recently, the actor celebrated his 93rd birthday with wife Saira Banu at his residence. The couple has featured together on silver screen in various films such as Duniya, Bairaag, Chhoti Bahu and Gopi and always stood by each other through ups and downs.
