New ’big ticket’ options being considered by Modi Govt

New Delhi, Aug 11, 2014:  News reports are rife stating, Narendra Modi government is weighing options of announcing "big ticket" projects on three key dates including August 15, which marks Independence Day.

Government officials said the other two dates during which the government may kick off some of the projects include completion of 100 days of the NDA coalition and September 25, the birthday of Jan Sangh stalwart Deen Dayal Upadhayay.

BJP is also drawing up plans for a grand centenary celebration of Deen Dayal Upadhayay with Modi flagging the date after taking over as Prime Minister. While details of the projects to be unveiled are still being fine-tuned, there is urgency in some key ministries to wrap up the work before the crucial dates being discussed for the roll out.

Modi’s speech on August 15 may signal a shift from the past where the prime minister is expected to announce specific timelines for the projects to be launched. He is also likely to steer clear of announcing any populist scheme and is expected to focus on implementing poll promises.
