Mangalore Today News Network

Lucknow, DH News, May 7 2017: A lady IPS officer, who, during her posting in Bundelkhand region, had instilled fear into the hearts of the mining mafia, was publicly rebuked by a senior BJP legislator in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur town bringing tears to her eyes.

Lady IAdditional superintendent of police Charu Nigam was seen wiping off her tears after Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, the BJP MLA from Gorakhpur town, rebuked her in the presence of many people, including senior district officials.

Agarwal, who was considered to be close to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, was said to be angry with the official for using force to disperse a crowd of women, who had blocked traffic on a busy road in protest against sale of hooch in Koilahawan locality in the town.

The women demonstrators also indulged in stone pelting in which the ASP suffered injuries.

Agarwal had reached the spot on getting the information about the demonstration. He lost his temper when Nigam tried to explain to him the reason behind the long traffic jam.

’’Shut up....don’t test my patience...call your boss,’’ Agarwal was heard telling the IPS officer. ’’I am also trying...there is a long traffic hold up....there is a threat to law and order,’’ she told the MLA but the latter refused to listen to her and continued with his outbursts.

Apparently feeling humiliated at being scolded publicly, Nigam was moved to tears and was seen wiping off the same.

Nigam, who was earlier posted in Jhansi, had taken on the mining mafia in the region.

Earlier also an upright IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal had been humiliated by a senior Samajadi Party (SP) leader during the latter’s regime a few years back. Nagpal had acted tough against the sand mafia in Greater Noida and had taken on the then ruling party people. She was also suspended.
