Karnataka man kills sister over interfaith relationship, mother dies trying to save her

Mysuru, Jan 25, 2024: A 19-year-old woman was murdered by her brother for allegedly being involved in a relationship with a man from another community. The incident took place in Mysuru.

 

Nineteen-year-old Dhanusri was allegedly spotted wearing a burqa and was seen with a boy from a Muslim community. Nithin, her brother, objected to this and advised Dhanusri against being involved with someone from another community.

Dhanusri reportedly continued her relationship with the man despite her brother’s warning. Enraged by his sister’s actions, Nitin pushed Dhanusri into a lake near Marur, close to Mysore’s Hunsur.

Their mother, 43-year-old Anitha, jumped into the water to rescue her daughter, but drowned.

The police have arrested Nitin in connection with the two deaths.
