Ranchi: June 9, 2015: Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das’s Facebook account was hacked on Tuesday and spammed by pornographic pictures and video links, causing an embarrassment to the chief minister and his government.

Facebook Hacked

The CM’s office received numerous calls and messages informing officials that they had received obscene pictures, videos and links to pornographic websites from his Facebook account, officials said.

Links to pornographic websites were posted on the wall of the CM’s Facebook page and random friends and followers were tagged, sources said.

Sources from the CMO said that the firewall to the CM’s account was down for the past two days after his cyber cell expert Dilip left the services to join the Indian Army on Saturday.

An emergency meeting was called by the principal secretary to the CM, Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday evening to address the problem. Kumar said that a probe by the cyber cell of Jharkhand police has been ordered in the case.

“I am sorry for the inconvenience. My account has been hacked,” said Das on his official Facebook account.

There are several fake Facebook accounts of the CM. The cyber cell will work to delete all the fake accounts, officials from the CMO said.

A public relations department official, Anand, who handles Das’s social media accounts, said the state has written to Facebook and Twitter requesting them to delete all the fake accounts opened in Das’s name, but have not received any reply yet.

He said that Das’s account was hacked at 6:32pm on Tuesday and the department got to know about it by 7pm.

“Our experts will set stricter security for the account once it is recovered,” Anand said.

Cyber experts are of the opinion that the hacker had personally posted all the obscene content on Das’s Facebook wall after cracking his password.

At least 20 Facebook users have been tagged on each post. Interestingly, the obscene posts had different sets of people tagged, officials said.
