In a first, IndiGo rolls out special discount for vaccinated customers

New Delhi, Jun 23, 2021: In a bid to support India’s mass vaccination programme, IndiGo airline has launched a special discount on IndiGo flights for vaccinated customers from Wednesday.

 

According to a statement released by India’s leading carrier on Wednesday, "The customers who have been administered either one or both the Covid-19 vaccine doses, can avail a discount of up to 10 per cent per cent on the base fare while booking."

With this initiative, IndiGo has become the first airline to roll out this offer in India.

IndiGo’s announcement comes two days after the central government began the ’Free Vaccination For All campaign’ for every citizens. Over 88 lakh doses were administered on the first day of the revised vaccination guidelines coming into force.

"The biggest beneficiary of this phase of India’s vaccination drive shall be the poor, the middle class and the youth of the country. All of us should pledge to get ourselves vaccinated. Together we will defeat Covid-19," Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said on Monday.

PM Modi had earlier appealed to people to get vaccinated to strengthen the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, AirAsia India had operated nine flights with a fully vaccinated crew, including cabin crew and pilots. The airline has been conducting free vaccination drives for all its employees and their family.
