New Delhi, Apr 14, 2016: Robert Vadra, Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, has said he is capable enough to face challenges and didn’t need the help of wife Priyanka to improve his life.

Vadra, whose land deals are being probed in the BJP-ruled states of Haryana and Rajasthan, told news agency ANI that he will not leave the country even if he is humiliated.

In the interview, Vadra said he will consider joining politics if people call for him.

“No matter what the government says, I have the ability to sustain and to absorb. I have a very strong and good family which gives me strength,” Vadra said.

Vadra, 46, had earlier alleged he was subjected to a “political witch-hunt” by the BJP, which accuses him of getting favours for land deals from previous Congress governments in Haryana and Rajasthan.

“I didn’t need my wife Priyanka to enhance my life, I have enough, I have always had enough. My father gave me enough. I have been educated enough to sustain in all types of situations,” he told ANI.

When asked whether he would join politics, Vadra said, “I would not say never, let’s see what future has in store for me.”

Till date, the controversial businessman has stayed away from politics despite being associated with the Gandhi family.

“When people will call for me, when they think I can make some change, then only will I think of joining politics. I understand my responsibilities. I know with which family I am associated, what they have done for generations. I have to make sure that I respect it,” he said.

Vadra married Priyanka in 1997 and the couple has two children.
