Fodder scam case judge: Lalu’s close aides called me to enquire about his fate

Mangalore Today News Network

Bihar, Jan 05, 2018 : In a sensational revelation, the special CBI judge Shiv Pal Singh, who convicted RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on December 23 in the fodder scam said that he has been getting calls from Lalu’s well-wishers who were keen on knowing his fate.

The judge while talking informally to Lalu inside the court hinted that he has been getting calls from Lalu’s men who were trying to influence the sentencing.

Singh, however, refrained from disclosing who were making the phone calls to him. He also told the caller that even he did not know what would be his decision on Lalu.

"I got many references for you but don’t worry, I will follow only law", Singh apparently told Lalu, according to ANI.

Speaking to India Today, Lalu’s lawyers said that the remarks were made by the special CBI judge, but he did not name the people who were making these calls. The lawyers said that it appears that someone who is mutually associated to Lalu and Singh may have made such a call.

"I am not aware of any such calls but if the special CBI judge has made this disclosure then there could be someone known both to Lalu and Singh who could have tried to know about the future of the RJD chief", said Anant Kumar, counsel for Lalu.

Senior RJD leader Raguvansh Prasad Singh rubbished the allegations made by the special CBI judge and said, it was possible that someone from the BJP may have called the judge to tarnish the image of Lalu.

"It is possible that leaders from the BJP or JDU may have made such a call to malign the image of Lalu. We have complete faith in the special CBI judge", said Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
