Ex-diplomat Taranjit Sandhu in BJP’s 8th list, actor Sunny Deol dropped

New Delhi, Mar 30, 2024: BJP on Saturday announced its 8th list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Notably, the ruling party has fielded former diplomat Taranjit Sandhu from Amritsar seat and dropped actor and sitting MP Sunny Deol from Gurdaspur. The party has announced candidates for six of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.
Interestingly, Hans Raj Hans, the incumbent BJP MP from Delhi’s North-West constituency, has been relocated to Punjab and will now vie for the Faridkot Parliamentary seat.
Former Congress stalwarts Preneet Kaur and Ravneet Singh Bittu have emerged as prominent figures in the BJP’s lineup, with Kaur slated to contest from her traditional stronghold of Patiala and Bittu from Ludhiana.
Preneet Kaur is the wife of Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab’s former Chief Minister. Kaur recently made a high-profile entry into the BJP fold amidst the presence of top party leaders from the state.
