New Delhi. Nov 6, 2016: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday appealed citizens to join hands with the government to win the fight against air pollution that has almost choked the national capital.

kejriwalAs part of the strategy to fight the menace, Kejriwal asked office-goers to work from home to curb vehicular pollution and reiterated his government’s stance to implement the Odd-Even scheme in the city for the third time.

Keeping in view the alarming pollution level, Kejriwal on Sunday ordered that all Delhi schools will remain closed for next three days.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has devised a plan to use water sprinklers in large scale to bring the dust particles under control. Kejriwal made it clear that his government will not hesitate to seek Centre’s assistance for creating artificial rain over Delhi.

On being questioned if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was caught unprepared over crop burning issue, Kejriwal clarified that they did not anticipate crop burning in such a large scale.

However, he made it clear that AAP is not pointing fingers at any one by saying that crop burning is one of the reasons for smog. But it is evident that vehicular pollution and dust are the primary reasons behind Delhi’s air pollution.

Cautioning on burning of leaves, Kejriwal said that sanitary inspectors will keep a tab on the law breakers and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been directed to douse fire from landfill sites.

To prove government’s solidarity to curb pollution, the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government on Sunday imposed a blanket ban on all types of construction work in the capital for 5 days while the Badarpur plant will remain closed for for 10 days.
