CM Siddaramaiah’s son hospitalised in Brussels

Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, July 28, 2016, DHNS: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s eldest son Rakesh has been admitted to the University Hospital Brussels in Belgium.

Rakesh Siddaramaiah on Wednesday told the media that his son’s condition is “little critical, but stable”. The chief minister said: “He is little critical, but stable. He is responding to the treatment. I will be leaving for Belgium at 4.30 am tomorrow (Thursday)”. However, it was not immediately known as to why Rakesh was hospitalised. According to a source, Rakesh, who was celebrating his 39th birthday in Pattaya last weekend, developed health complications and was flown to Belgium for treatment.

Another source said Rakesh was in Belgium when he developed complications in his pancreas. Rakesh had met with an accident 15 years ago where he suffered injuries to the pancreas. He is being treated for water retention in the organ, the source added.

The chief minister spoke to Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and sought her assistance to coordinate with the Indian Embassy in Belgium. The embassy officials are learnt to have admitted Rakesh to the hospital.

Siddaramaiah’s younger son Yathindra, who is a doctor, flew to Belgium along with two family doctors and Rakesh’s wife. The couple have a son and a daughter.

The chief minister’s elder son nurses political ambitions and has in the past tried his hand at acting too.
