CCTV Shows Man Snatching Chain, Being Thrashed When Caught

Mumbai, Jan 12, 2015: The audacity of a chain-snatcher targeting vulnerable senior citizens a Mumbai suburb has been caught on security cameras last week.
A young man is seen talking to an elderly woman as she is entering her apartment complex. It is broad daylight. Suddenly, he grabs her chain and tries to run away. An alert guard emerges from his booth and asks for help. Residents of the building are then seen thrashing the thief before handing him over the police when they arrive.
The woman who was assaulted by the man was 80-year-old Gulnisha Khan. The thief has been identified as Ajit Pratap, 32. He is in jail.
