After Child’s Rape in School, Now 7-Year-Old Allegedly Raped at Aaya’s Home in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 30, 2014:   A seven-year-old girl has allegedly been raped in Bangalore, a city that is still coping with the aftermath of a six-year-old’s rape in an elite school.

On Friday, the child was allegedly assaulted by the son of her aaya, or nanny, who is paid Rs. 300 a month to pick her up from school.

The child had returned from school and her mother, who works for daily wages at a garment factory, had left her with the nanny when she was attacked.

When the nanny left the house for her own work, her 24-year-old son, a construction worker, allegedly raped the child. He has been arrested.

The incident has surfaced a day after the police arrested two gym instructors for the rape of a first grade student at Vibgyor International School on July 2.

The child’s rape brought people in the IT city, mostly parents, out on the streets and led to the transfer of the city’s police commissioner.

The police also admitted yesterday that a skating instructor arrested last week may not have been involved in the assault. The police said they found child rape porn on his laptop and mobile phone, but he may only have helped the rapists destroy evidence.
