Mangaluru, July 25, 2018: She is a known name in the Literary world and is also an extremely talented painter. K Usha P Rai who hails from Udupi is a gifted personality in every way. Her deep penchant for writing comes straight from her father, who was a journalist and editor of Navayuga weekly for 50 long years.
Usha who had her early education at St Cecily’s convent in Udupi and later completed her graduation with history, economics as major subjects. It was after her marriage that she did her post graduation in Sociology and then joined Vijaya Bank as an officer. After nearly 25 years of service she opted for VRS in 1999.
A former president of Karnataka Women Writers’ Association she has authored over 25 literary works including stories, novels, poems, essays, travelogues, profiles and autobiography. She has also authored a few works in Tulu. Her English write-ups and poems have appeared in Femina and Muse India. Her literary talent has even won her many awards.
It was in 2005 that the artist in Usha blossomed after she met with a road accident leaving her bed-ridden with multiple fractures for nearly six months. Art rejuvenated her and helped her recover from her physical and mental trauma and she has been pursuing art with passion since then. Her paintings are well appreciated and are exhibited in web galleries.
