Mangaluru, Nov 29, 2014: At a time when many of his age love Western music, here is an exceptionally talented youngster who is a passionate Sitarist and has even won accolades for his mesmerizing performances.

He is Ankush Nayak, a young man who loves playing sitar just as he loves technology. Son of Narendra L Nayak and Ushaprabha N Nayak of the Expert Group, Ankush has made his parents proud with his excellence both in academics as well as music.

A  B.Tech  (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering) graduate from the prestigious NIT-K Suratkal, Ankush is  presently pursuing his MS in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Arizona, USA.

He was initiated into Sitar learning at the age of 9 under the tutelage of the  renowned Sitarist Ustad Rafique Khan. He  even learnt Carnatic music tala system from Vidwan Trichy R Kumar, a Ghatam maestro.  While studying at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata as a Junior Scholar he was trained by Pt Buddadev Das Gupta, another famed Sarod artiste.

A graded artiste of AIR, Ankush has also given performance in Door Darshan and is even a member artiste of Shiva Fusion Music Group.

A brilliant student, Ankush  has won the Science Academies Summer Research Fellowship and  has served as Project Assistant at IISc in Bangalore and Indian BARC, Mumbai.

Of late, he even bagged the first prize in International Students Talent Hunt-3 held at the University of Arizona.
