Woman electrocuted near boar trap; trio arrested for hushing up incident

Karkala, Sep 19 2018: Karkala Rural Police have arrested three persons on the charges of trying to destroy evidence and hushing up the case wherein a woman had died after coming into contact with a live wire placed to trap a boar recently. The arrested are John (57) of Kadandale, Sunil (30) of Sacharipete and Padmanabha (42) of Mundkur.



Girija Poojarti (50), wife of Kanthappa Poojary of Posral in Sachharipete of Mundkur village  who worked  at  the Ram Restaurant in Mundkur  was electrocuted on September 8  evening while on way to her brother’s house nearby. The accused  who came to know about this  had dumped her body in a well nearby. Two days later,  they retrieved the body and after rolling it in a tarpaulin and dumped it in a forest area at Kandiga in Kantavar.

Meanwhile, Girija’s husband had lodged a missing complaint on September 14. On September 17, a passerby who sensed foul smell foul in the area had informed the police who found the body of Girija.
