Mangaluru, Mar 02, 2024: A Catholic Priest from the Christ the King Parish at Manela in Periyaltadka has been removed from the religious ministry at the church soon after a video of the Priest allegedly assaulting an elderly couple went viral.
The Diocese of Mangaluru in a press release has expressed its sadness over the incident that took place on February 29 and has said it would fully co-operate with the law enforcing authorities. It said even the Diocese will initiate canonical enquiries to ascertain the facts and will ensure further course of action in a just and fair manner.
The elderly couple who were reportedly assaulted by the Priest, have already lodged a complaint with the Vittal police and a case has been registered.
