Udupi: Young pair found hanging from electric pole

Udupi, Dec 15, 2013: Residents of Uggelbettu at Uppoor in Belmar were in for a shock on December 15, Sunday morning when they found a young pair hanging from an electric pole in a plantation.

The deceased have been identified as Veena (21) who hailed from   Ammunje and Vijay(28), a resident of Uggelbettu. Though the exact reason that drove them to suicide is not known it is said Vijay was an already married man with a kid and that the two were friends. Sources also reveal that Veena used to pressurise Vijay to marry her resulting in a strained relationship between Vijay and his wife.

It is learnt, Vijay  was a representative of Sri Kshetra Rural Dharmasthala Rural Development Project in Malpe while Veena was a member of an SHG under the Project. Further, it has been gathered that Veena who had availed housing loan had given the same to Vijay and  that the latter was unable to repay it later on.

It has also been learnt that Vijay has a four and a half year old child. Brahmavar police are investigating.
