Udupi, Dec 24, 2015: Another pre-Paryaya ritual, Akki Muhurtha, the last one preceding the Paryaya festival, was held on December 23, Thursday. The Paryaya of Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt is scheduled to be held in January. Akki Muhurtha marks the beginning of collection of rice and other forms of donations from devotees for the Paryaya celebrations as well as preparation of food to visitors of the Mutt.
As part of Akki Muhurtha, pooja was performed and prayers offered to the deities at the Lord Chandramauleshwara and Anantheshwara Temples in the presence of the Pejawar Mutt Diwan Raghavendra Acharya and a large number of devotees. They then carried a decorated Mura or Akki Mudi to the Sri Krishna Mutt where again prayers and special pooja were offered to Lord Sri Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana. The Mura was then placed at Badagu Maalige of the Mutt where again pooja was offered.
The rituals were held under the leadership of Chief Priest of the Mutt Chitrapura Gopalkrishna Acharya. Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, UR Sabhapathi, former MLA, Balaji Raghavendra Acharya, Secretary of Paryaya Reception Committee and others were present.
