Udupi, July 7, 2014 : “Kesardonji Dina’ a rural sports meet organised by the Alevoor Shri Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samithi on July 6, Sunday saw an enthusiastic participation by youngsters who enjoyed the day thoroughly by taking part in several rural games.
The participation of actor and director Rakshith Shetty who hails from Alevoor, added a special attraction to the event. Rakshith who ventured into the fields, danced to the music of tiger dance sequence of the film ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe.’
The event was organised in the Doddamane fields in Alevoor. Villagers including men, women and children converged to take part in the programme.
The main objective of the programme was to enlighten the present generation which remains away from fields to have a firsthand experience of being in a field while also making them enjoy the participation.
Several events like marshy field race, tug of war, pyramid formation, Tappangai, pot breaking contests were organised.
The programme was inaugurated by Sridhar Shetty Alevoor. Doddamane Govinda Shetty, Karunaker Shetty, Alevoor GP Vice President Ashok Kumar Bhandari and others were present.
The organisers had even made lunch arrangements for the participants who enjoyed ganji with horse gram chutney and pickles.
Rakshith Shetty said he was happy to take part in the event and recalled that the shooting was held for the film ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’ in the same marshy field.
