Mangaluru, Nov 17, 2017: Former minister and BJP leader Krishna J Palemar has accused the state government of playing with the lives of the people of the state by trying to implement the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act.
Speaking to reporters at Press Club, Palemar also demanded compensation to the families of all those who lost their lives for want of suitable treatment during the doctors’ strike. "As many as 42 persons have lost their lives. Who is responsible for this?" questioned Palemar and sought a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the family members of the deceased.
He also questioned certain provisions of the proposed Act wherein the government will fix treatment costs."There is nothing wrong in taking action in case there is any discrepancy in quality of treatment, but how can the government fix the treatment costs of a private hospital ?," questioned Palemar.
BJP leaders Shanker Bhat, Ravishanker Mijar and Sanjay Prabhu were present at the press meet.
