Row over viral video: No undue favours to Bhasker Shetty murder accused, say cops

Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, Aug 13, 2016 : A fresh controversy that erupted  over the police allegedly  showing leniency  towards the accused in the hotelier Bhasker Shetty murder case, by taking them to a  famous hotel  at Nitte near Karkala on the evening of August 10, has taken a new twist.

Bhaskar Shetty case

Though the CCTV camera had showed the  police  including the current investigating officer ASP Dr Sumana visiting the hotel along with he accused,  the police have come up with a clarification that no special treatment was being provided to the accused and that they had taken the accused along with them when  they had food at t he hotel as they could not be left alone in the vehicle.

The video footage has already gone viral on social sites inviting the ire of the public and various organisations and also seems to be substantiating the doubt that the cops were   doing undue favours to the accused.

Meanwhile,  Manipal station house officer S V Girish who was earlier the investigation officer in this case too had stirred a controversy when he allowed the accused Navaneeth to sit  on the front seat of the police jeep.
