Mangalorre, June 30, 2014:  Mangalore Coastal Round Table 190 and Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 organised ‘inspiring quiz’ competition on JUNE 28, state media reports here. the participants were special children and others.

A team with Harshith (speech and hearing challenged category – SDM Mangala Institute), Sathwik Shetty (visually challenged category – Roman and Catherine School), A Dhanish (BEM High School, Car Street), Bindiya H Shetty (Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School) and Yukhta S Rao ( Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School) were crowned as “Genius 2014.” The quiz was conducted in two rounds (semi-finals and finals) with each having five types of question formats.

With 10 teams total and five children in a team, there were a total of 50 participants. These comprised 20 children from private schools, 10 children from government (public schools), 10 children from SDM Mangala Institute, Vamanjoor (speech and hearing challenged category) and 10 children from Roman and Catherine School for the Visually Challenged.

The runners up were a team with Suraksha (speech and hearing challenged category – SDM Mangala Institute), Shashikala (Roman & Catherine School), Katija Kubra (Govt high school, Car Street), Ashwin AV (Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School) and Yukhta S Rao (Ladyhill Victoria Girls High School).

“The intention of the competition is to develop bond between normal children and the differently abled and remove the barriers,” said Neil Rodrigues, Chairman of the Mangalore Round Table. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader inaugurated the programme.

The winning team was given prizes in the form of trophies, certificates and gifts worth Rs 10,000. The runners up won trophies, certificates and also gifts worth Rs 5,000. All participants were provided certificates of appreciation for their participation. The results are amazing.
