Puttur, Sep 28, 2015: A private bus carrying people who were returning after an engagement ceremony rolled into a gorge at Kunjurupanja Pilikunda on Parladka-Panaje Road on September 27, Sunday evening resulting in serious injuries to three persons including a two year old child. The rest of the passengers in the bus escaped unhurt.
The injured namely Chandravathi of Kumble Mayiltady,Ummakke and the child have been admitted to a hospital in Puttur.
The family members and relatives of a prospective groom were travelling in the bus after the engagement held at Town Bank Auditorium of Puttur. The bus had come from Mayippady and was on its return journey when the mishap took place. Luckily the rear portion of the bus was entangled in the roots of a huge tree lest there would have been several causalities.
The place where the accident took place came on the Manjeshwar-Subrahmanya State Highway and several accidents had taken place at the spot earlier too. The repeated appeals to the PWD to put up a railing on either sides of the road had fallen on deaf ears.
The bus was later lifted from the gorge with the help of a crane. Hundreds had gathered at the scene of the accident and the Puttur Rural Police had a tough time in regulating traffic. It is being said the driver of the bus was drunk and that negligent driving was the reason for the mishap.
The drivers before getting into this profession has to question them self whether they can do their duty in a prompt manner, keeping the safety of others in their minds.
The owner of the buses have to very careful before choosing the driver for the bus . Should know about their habits to avoid such in future, as they are one who help the people to reach their destination, when they them self are so careless just imagine we are prone to such incidents.
The strict action has to be taken on the driver of the bus. Put him behind the bars as he was sloshed. How can he be so negligent ?
The state of the bus seems many might have been injured. The private buses move rashly just for the sake of collection and danger the lives of the passengers. The police has to take action on these.
