Protest outside Yenepoya Hospital opposing assault on doctor accused of sexual abuse

Mangalore, Feb 11, 2014: The case of alleged  assault on a  doctor at the Yenepoya Hospital on the charges of sexually abusing  a patient, triggered a protest in  front of the hospital on February 11, Tuesday by the doctors, interns and  medical students of  the hospital.

The protestors even blocked the road. One of the protestors said that the allegation was levelled merely to tarnish the image of the institution. The protest was later withdrawn after the police who arrived at the spot assured a thorough probe.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The incident had occurred on February 10, Monday when some members of women’s organisations reportedly barged into the hospital and manhandled the doctor named Niyaz after they gathered information that he had sexually abused a female patient while examining her.

The accused Dr Niyaz who is pursuing his second year MD at the institute has however denied the charges.
