Mangaluru, Feb 4, 2024: The police apprehended five young individuals traveling to Bengaluru with 42 mobile SIM cards, suspected to be engaged in clandestine activities. The Dharmsthala police arrested the group at Thotattadi in Neriya village, Beltangady, on February 1.

The arrested individuals are Rameez (20), Akbar Ali (24), Mohammed Mustafa (22), Mohammed Sadiq (27), and a 17-year-old minor.

Akbar Ali, who had spent two years in Dubai and returned to his hometown four months ago, acquired illegal SIM cards during his stay in Dubai. He obtained them under various names using fake IDs. Given the potential overseas connection in this case, the police have initiated a more rigorous and in-depth investigation.
