Police Department Organizes Property Returns Parade

Mangalore, Nov 4: "The general public needs to be informed about the ability and efficiency of the police officials," said Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao,the superintendent of police. He was speaking on the occasion of the second property returns parade of the year, organized by the police department on the Police Grounds on Nov 4, Wednesday.

The SP also said that, during a period of 8 months from January to September 2009, valuables worth Rs 3,55,95,391 had been stolen. Of these, valuables worth Rs 52,08,936 were detained; and the rest of the valuables worth Rs 47,92,365 were returned to their owners. Eighty percent of the detained valuables were returned to the people concerned and the rest of the property will be returned after obtaining legal permission.

The purpose of organizing the property parade is to encourage the police officials who work hard all day and every day for the cause of public safety. These hard-working officials will be rewarded for their efficiency, said the SP.

 

 

 

The SP also said that the police department has ordered religious authorities to install technical equipment such as burglar alarms and CCTV cameras in places of worship. The SP said that people must take the required steps to protect their property since police officials cannot personally protect each and every home.

The police officials are making a strong effort to monitor and filter the criminal list and to focus on main criminal activities via the recently introduced police beat system, informed the SP.
