Mangaluru, Feb 12, 2024: Following alleged derogatory remarks made by a teacher from St Gerosa School in Mangaluru against the Hindu religion, a complaint was lodged at the Mangaluru South police station on Sunday.

The complaint, filed by a parent of a student from the school, accuses the teacher of presenting Hinduism negatively with the alleged intent of converting students to Christianity. It calls for decisive action against both the teacher and the school.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Y Bharat Shetty has urged Hindus to reconsider enrolling their children in schools operated by Christian missionaries. He cited a history of instances where anti-Hindu sentiments were purportedly expressed within such institutions.

Shetty alleged that these schools have previously discouraged Hindu practices such as wearing flowers, bangles, or applying tilak (bindi), and now, they are accused of propagating hatred towards Hindu deities.

He cautioned that protests would be organized if the school administration fails to take stringent action against the accused teacher.
