Udupi, Aug 15, 2012 : P. Harishchandra, Mangalore deputy superintendent of police, won the President’s Medal and B. Sathish Prabhu, inspector of the Special Intelligence Branch of the Southern Central Railway, won the Indian Police Medal – 2012 in appreciation of services rendered.

About P. Harishchandra

P. Harishchandra started his police career as a sub inspector in 1977, after which he became an inspector and finally became the deputy superintendent of police. A distinguished police officer, P. Harishchandra won cash prizes over 189 times and bagged awards over 35 times. He has also been felicitated 18 times.

 

In 1984, when rowdies Manjunatha and Ravindra Prasad escaped from police custody, Inspector Harishchandra played an important role in nabbing them within 12 hours. Besides, he has tracked down and arrested a number of other culprits in the course of his career.


About Sathish Prabhu
B. Sathish Prabhu of Bailoor in Karkala is an inspector in the Special Intelligence Branch in the South Central Railway. He was appointed as the sub inspector of the Railway Protection Force in 1992 and also held RPF posts in the South Central Railway.

He has to his credit two GM Awards and the DG’s insignia. He played an active role in detecting that the Gautami Express was sabotaged in 1995. When he was in the CBI, he investigated a number of important cases such as Abu Salem and Monika Bedi’s passport forgery case.
