No schools in Karnataka to be reopened till October 30: State govt

Bengaluru, Oct 12, 2020:    The schools in Karnataka will remain closed till October 30 as per the latest statement issued by the state government. The schools in the state are not being reopened in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and the sudden rise in the cases.

 

As per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the state governments have the liberty to reopen the schools from October 15 but the Karnataka government has decided against it for the time being for the safety of the students.

The educational institutes in India, including schools, colleges and training institutes, have been shut down since March 16 in view of the nationwide lockdown that was imposed to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Reopening of schools across India

The central government has released the guidelines of Unlock 5, in which it is mentioned that the schools in the country can reopen from October 15 as per the discretion of the state government and stakeholders concerned.

Many states such as Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra have currently put the decision of the reopening of schools on hold in view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which might put the students at risk.

MHA has stated in the guidelines that several safety measures, such as usage of facemasks and sanitizers inside the school premises, need to be followed if the schools in a state are being reopened. To avoid overcrowding, only 20 students will be seated in one classroom.
