Narrow escape for passengers as KSRTC bus skids off road near Bangrakulur bridge

Mangalore, May 28, 2013: Passengers of a KSRTC bus which was on way to Mangalore from Badami had a narrow escape when the  bus skid and hit a bridge near Bangrakulur on NH 66 in the early hours of May 28, Tuesday morning.

 

The bus had at least passengers on board when the mishap took place. Despite the driver’s attempt to apply brake, the slippery road due to the  heavy rains  resulted in the bus skidding off the road.

 

 

The  alarmed bus passengers jumped out of the bus  in an apparent bid to save themselves. However, beyond doubt it was the presence of mind of the driver that saved many lives  as the bus stopped at the right spot. Had it moved even a little further, then the vehicle would have plunged into the river, leading to casualties.

The stranded passengers of the bus were later taken to Mangalore in another bus.
