Mother-daughter suicide case: Teacher arrested

Kasargod, Nov 10, 2023: Melparamba police have arrested a teacher in connection with the alleged suicide of a mother and daughter at Kalnad Aramgana.

The arrested man is Safwan (29). He has been charged with instigating suicide and destruction of evidence.

Rubina, teacher of a private school and her five year old daughter Hanan Mariya were found dead in a well near their house. Rubina’s husband had lodged a complaint with the Melparamba police seeking a thorough probe.

Investigations revealed that Rubina was in love with the accused teacher with whom she had come into contact through social media. But when the man decided to marry another woman, there was a discord between Rubina and him. Later Rubina had ended life along with her daughter.

Investigations revealed that the accused had deleted his chat messages with the deceased woman.

The accused has been produced before the Hosadurga court and remanded to judicial custody.
