Mangaluru, Mar 13, 2015 : The Lawyers’ fraternity of the city under the aegis of the Mangaluru Bar Association staged a protest on March 13, Friday in front of the District Court complex demanding justice to the family of Nabi Ahmed, an advocate who fell victim to police bullets in front of Allahabad Court.
Addressing the protestors, Mangaluru Bar Association President SP Chengappa strongly condemned the police act and added that the atrocities and oppression on innocents must be condemned.
He demanded that the family to the deceased advocate must be provided a compensation of Rs one crore by the government instead of the already announced Rs 10 lakh as advocates do not have Provident Fund or any other benefits. The lawyers would boycott court proceedings from March 16, Monday if the accused cop was not arrested within 24 hours, Chengappa warned.
