Addressing the protestors, Mangaluru Bar Association President SP Chengappa  strongly condemned the police act and added that the atrocities and oppression on innocents must be condemned.

He demanded that the family to the deceased advocate must be provided a compensation of Rs  one crore by the government instead of the already announced Rs 10 lakh as advocates do not  have Provident Fund or any other benefits. He also urged the government to bear the treatment costs of another injured advocate Chandan. He further demanded  the arrest of the cop named Shailendra Singh who had fired at the advocate.

The lawyers would boycott court proceedings from March 16, Monday if the accused cop was not arrested within 24 hours, Chengappa warned.

Yashodhar Karkera, Vice President of Bar Association, Raghavendra H, General Secretary, Yatish, Treasure and others were present.
