Leopard trapped in well set free by forest offcials

Udupi, July 6, 2014  : Reliable information from Marne bogina haadi near Alevoor, Udupi dist., indicates, a leopard that strayed while chasing its prey fell in the well of Sadhanantha Nayak compound. On July 5, when  Sadhananth’s wife Janaki went to the well to get water, she found a leopard sitting on a stone in the well.

Later, men of the forest department reached the spot. Prakash Poojari, a forest official said that the leopard aged about 2 yrs, was rescued. A ladder was dropped into the well and after a while the leopard found its way and went deep into the nearby forest area from where it had come.

Along with the Forest dept., Fire service and police from Manipal and Udupi were part of the rescue teams.
