Kasargod, Jun 21, 2013: Police in Kasargod have seized cash of Rs 29 lakh suspected to be hawala money and have arrested a person identified as Abdul Aziz (54) at the local railway station on June 20, Thursday.
The police who acted on a tip off, arrested the man as soon as he arrived by a train from Kozhikode. He was found to be possessing cash of Rs 28,91,750. Police said on interrogation, Aziz refused to accept that it was hawala money and claimed that it was money he got after selling old gold ornaments. However, he had no document to prove his claims. His ATM and Pan cards have also been seized.
The case is now being probed by the Kozhikode IT Department.
