Kasargod: Fire guts fishing boat; 6 fishermen injured

Kasargod, April 2, 2014: A fishing boat was partially destroyed in a fire that erupted in the boat at Uduma Trikkananad on April 1, Tuesday. It is learnt, the loss due to the fire runs to the tune of several lakhs of rupees. The exact cause of the fire though is not known, the boat owner suspects that someone might have deliberately set the boat on fire.

fire boat 1 The fire was noticed in the boat after the fishermen on board left home after a fishing expedition. They later rushed to the spot on getting information about the fire. Though they tried to extinguish the fire, they were injured in the process and had to be hospitalised.

The Fire tender vehicles which arrived later on, put out the fire. The injured fishermen are Sunil (28), Santosh (34), Kunhiraman (44), Ragesh, Ravi and Chandran.

Local police are conducting further investigation.
