Karkala: Suspected Naxal Shrimathi produced before court

Karkala, Feb 16, 2024: Suspected Naxalite Shrimathi alias Unnimmayi was produced before the court by Karkala police on Thursday. She was later remanded to judicial custody by the court till February 17.
Shrimathi who is facing one case in Karkala was brought to Karkala by the local police from Kerala after securing a body warrant.
She is being probed in connection with the case of kidnap and murder of Sadashiva Gowda of Kabbinale in Hebri on November 19, 2011.
On Thursday when Shrimathi was being produced before the court she shouted CPI Mao Zindabad.
She was arrested at Wayanad Kannur in November 2023 for reportedly being active in Naxal activities in Kerala and Karnataka. Police said Shrimathi who is the daughter of Puttugowda and Girija couple of Belagodukodige in Begar village of Sringeri was active in Naxal movement since 2007.
She has over 15 cases against her including the case pertaining to encounter with police at Matholli and vandalizing the inspection room of the Forest Department checkpost at Thanikodu.
