Mangalore, Feb 20, 2014 : Ali Hassan, President of the Kankanady Market Merchants Association has warned of a severe protest if authorities fail to solve the problems at the Kankanady market.
Speaking to media men here on February 19, Wednesday, he said the several appeals made to the authorities so far have fallen on deaf ears. He said the Association would hold protest with the co-operation of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Kankanady Market Autorickshaw and Taxi park Committee if the authorities continued their apathy.
He said the market lacked an outlet for free flow of water and added the roofs were leaking during monsoon. Even the promise of MLA JR Lobo to put up interlocks in the market area has not been fulfilled, he pointed out.
Hassan further informed that the DC, MCC Commissioner, local MLA and corporators have already been apprised of the problem.
