Giant tree uprooted at Kulshekara-Kalpane

Mangalore, June 07, 2014: The giant tree along the road uprooted at Kalpane in Kulshekara on June 6. It fell on Punith Pinto, a passing two wheeler rider and injured him to his good fortune he sustained only minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. The fallen tree completely blocked the road for over an hour.

According to people around the spot, the Manglore City Corporation (MCC) was informed immediately, they did not respond nor did they come to the spot. Kadri police who reached the spot were also helpless to do anything, after a while the people along with the police managed to clear a path by moving and cutting the branches of the tree. Traffic was fully blocked along the road.

People have complained a number of times to the MCC that care is needed in view of the huge aged trees posing a danger to road users specially during the impending monsoons.
