Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said any hike  in fares  should neither be a burden to the common man nor should it do injustice to the bus operators. Referring to the court order, he said in that case  the fares will  have to be hiked to Rs 65  which would be an increase by 20 per cent.  At the same time, the DC said   increasing the fares by 20 per cent would  hit hard the commuters.

Social activist and Nagarika Hitharakshana Vedike Convenor Hanumanth Kamath filed objection to a hike in fares of express and shuttle buses.

RTO Afzal Ahmed Khan, SP Dr Sharanappa and other officials, representatives of bus operators and various organisations were present.
