DSS demands end to Madesnana, Panktibedha rituals in temples

Mangalore, July 9, 2013: The members of Dalit Sangharsh Samithi under the aegis of CPI(M) staged the protest in front of DC Office on July 9, Tuesday opposing the Made-madasnana and Panktibeda conducted in temples and mutt.

Addressing the protestors CPI(M) leader Vasanth Achary said that CPI(M) condemned the ritual of ‘Made Snana’ and discrimination in serving food from past one year. He also said that the CPI (M) had launched a protest in this regard on December 21 at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple and flagged off its rally from Mangalore to Udupi on December 24 which culminated on Thursday December 27. But still government has not taken any action to stop it, he regretted.

Apart from it, he urged the government to sanction funds for the welfare of the Dalit in the budget in accordance to the  Dalit population.

The protestors also demanded that  the SC/ ST reservation must be extended even to the private sector. The police officials must also withdraw the false complaint filed against the Dalit activists in Udupi recently, the agitators urged.

CPI(M) leaders Sunil Kumar Bajal, Muneer Katipalla and B Madhava were present.
