DK ZP conducts Workshop on Food Processing

Mangalore, June 14, 2014: The President of Dakshina Kannada (DK), Zilla Panchayat (ZP), Asha Thimmappa Gowda, inaugurated a one day workshop on Food Processing at the Nethravathi Auditorium of Zilla Panchayat Mangalore on June 14.

 

She elaborated on how due to many issues the farmers are giving up traditional agriculture presently. A day will not be far when they will get back to agriculture due to lack of food for the increasing population. Today we converted the paddy fields to shamelessly construct unnecessary complexes and high rises. Ground water levels seriously depleted and this is hampering irrigation and drinking water essentials. Hence, we need to work on rain harvesting and raise the ground water levels immediately. Workshops and discussions will help the agriculturists to revive and cary out  farming effectively. She expressed the hope that this workshop would yield good fruit to everyone. The ZP President, urged the particpants to utilize the workshop to maximum extent and benefit from it and consider more such programmes.

The DC A B Ibrahim, Dr H Kempegowda, joint director of agricultural Department, vice president of ZP,  Satish Kumpala and others were also graced the venue during which the deputy mayor of MCC Kavitha Salian released the handbill of National Mission on Food Processing and the president of ZP standing committee for Industries and agriculture Jayashree released the hand book on "Perspectives of Industrial Development plan 2013-17".  The workshop was conducted for the benefit of all participants.
