Mangalore, Mar 27, 2014 : State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader has refuted the allegations levelled against him that he had used his political influence in sanctioning a BDA site to a Trust in the name of his brother though it ought to have been sanctioned to the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple Trust.
Speaking to reporters here on March 27, Thursday, Khader said the allegation was nothing but an attempt by the BJP to tarnish his image by spreading rumours.
Referring to the case, Khader said his brother who runs the UT Nasima Fareed Memorial Charitable Trust had applied for a BDA site consequent upon a notification issued by the BDA in 2012-13 for sanctioning civic amenity site. Khader said the site was reserved for the category of mentally and physically challenged and the trust which is meant for the differently abled persons and founded in 2004 was qualified.
He said though six others including the Temple Trust had applied, they were not qualified for the same. In fact the Temple Trust wanted to run an information centre if the site was sanctioned, he said.
With regard to the allegation that the temple Trust had paid Rs 39,958 as fee, Khader said all applicants will have to pay the deposit which is refunded later.
He further said he was ready for any inquiry into the allegation and added that he has asked his family members that the site will have to be returned to the temple if it actually was qualified for the same lest he would sever ties with them.,
Congress spokesperson Ivan D’Souza alleged that the BJP was trying to take political advantage through such issues by playing with religious sentiments. He also said the Congress would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission.
Congress leaders Eshwar Ullal, Sadashiv Ullal, Praveen Chandra Alva and Mithun Rai were present.
